Settings Reference

Every settings group in SimpMusic explained, with default values.

This page documents each settings group, in the order it appears in the app. Some groups and options are Android-only and are marked as such.

Wallpaper colours

Wallpaper derives the palette from your device wallpaper (Material You). The option only appears on Android 12 or newer — on older Android versions and on desktop it is not offered at all, so the picker just shows Default and Custom.

Paired with the Dark theme, SimpMusic keeps the background pure black rather than the tinted grey Material You would normally use, so the OLED look survives.

Liquid glass is Android-only

The effect swaps in a translucent bottom navigation bar and changes how the mini player sits above it, with its own layout on tablets. It needs Android 13 or newer, and the desktop app switches it back off on its own — there is no glass bar to apply it to there.

Audio (Android only)

SettingWhat it doesDefault
Normalize VolumeBalance media loudnessOff

Open system equalizerHand off to your device's own EQ app

The equalizer is your system's, not SimpMusic's

SimpMusic has no built-in equalizer. This opens whatever EQ your phone or ROM provides, and hands it SimpMusic's audio session — so the adjustments you make there apply to SimpMusic's playback specifically, not to every app at once.

If no EQ app is installed, SimpMusic says so instead of opening a blank screen. The option is Android-only; the desktop app has nothing to hand off to.

Defaults above reflect what the app persists. A few options behave slightly differently from their on-screen initial state (for example, Kill service on exit persists as Off). When in doubt, the value shown in the app is what's active.
