Import playlists
Move playlists over from another YouTube Music client using the converter on simpmusic.org, then load the file into SimpMusic.
Coming from another YouTube Music client? SimpMusic can take your playlists with you in bulk, instead of rebuilding them by hand.
The job is split in two: a web converter turns the other app's backup into SimpMusic's own import format, and the app then reads that file.
Step 1 — Convert your backup
Open the playlist converter and give it a backup exported from one of these apps:
- InnerTune
- OuterTune
- Metrolist
- ArchiveTune
Pick the playlists you want to keep, then download the file it produces. The whole conversion runs in your browser — your library is never uploaded anywhere.
Step 2 — Load it into SimpMusic
Go to Settings → Backup → Import playlists.
Pick the file you downloaded.
SimpMusic reads the file, then works through it, showing its progress as "n of m songs".
This works on both Android and Desktop.
What you get at the end
SimpMusic reports how many playlists it created and how many songs went into them.
It may also tell you that some entries were skipped. That happens when a playlist points at a song the file itself doesn't contain — the reference exists but the song data doesn't, so there's nothing to import. The count is reported separately so the numbers still add up.
Only SimpMusic's own format is accepted
The file has to come from the converter above. Anything else — another app's raw backup, a CSV you assembled yourself — is turned away with "This file is not a valid SimpMusic import file".
Importing is not the same as Backup & Restore. Restore
rebuilds your own SimpMusic library from a .backup file this app wrote. Importing brings
playlists in from a different app and adds them alongside what you already have.
